My Broadcast with Doug Miles and Melinda Tredaway!

 Trevor Tredaway
Good Afternoon from Phoenix, Everyone. For those of you who were not able to to tune into the broadcast of "The Doug Miles Interview" you can hear my visit with Melinda Tredaway by clicking HERE.

Melinda of course is my dear friend and the mother of 6 year-old Trevor Tredaway of Midland, Texas. Our broadcast was expanded to 35 minutes thanks to Doug's generosity. It was a visit where you'll hear me talking forcefully about remaining "relentlessly positive"--this is a term I borrowed from the late Sally Meyerhoff, a tremendous cyclist whom we lost to a traffic accident last March here in Phoenix. Sally's term was so appropriate for me to use in describing some key points below about Trevor Tredaway. In this regard, I hope that I have honored Sally's memory by using "relentlessly positive" to describe how we all feel about 2012 and the opportunities that will present themselves to Trevor as he battles cancer. If you tune into the show here are a few items that you will learn about:

  • A background about Trevor Tredaway and his fight to become cancer-free as told by his mother, Melinda.

  • How my CPA of many years played a key role in bringing The Tredaway Family and myself together with just a two-sentence e-mail back in late November, 2007.

  • The most up to date news about how Trevor is coming along with his treatment protocol at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

  • How you can access Trevor's Caringbridge website!

  • I speak about the Medical Fund that was established in Trevor's name, since so many people ask me at least three times a week about it. I always consider that question to be  a wonderful opportunity to inform others and to tell Trevor's inspiring story!

  • Trevor's filming of the television commercial featuring actor and comedian Robin Williams on behalf of St. Jude.
One of the blessings of having worked in both television and radio is the familiarity I feel either behind a microphone or in front of a camera. Doug Miles has a similar background to mine and as my friend, he understands that I am not at all shy or reserved when it comes to talking about a matter of the heart. Particularly when it involves a little boy who is dealing with such a serious illness. With this great opportunity, you'll also hear me mention a word about the importance of sharing a kind word of encouragement.

Trevor's Caringbridge website allows Melinda to post a message and share it with everyone who owns a computer or an IPhone with Internet access. You can read Trevor's Story, look at his Photos and read Melinda's Journal.

Trevor is a giggly little boy who just makes you care--that is the best way I can describe him; he's a genuine Joy! Those kind people who stop by and comment on Trevor's site understand as I do the power of the written word. Relative to this, one of the key concerns I hear people express to me is that they don't know what to say on Trevor's Blog Page Guestbook section. The best answer I have is to just be yourself and speak from the heart. A message as simple as this: "I just read your post and I care", or "I am keeping you in my thoughts and prayers" or "Your story has touched my heart. Please know I care." These are merely examples of messages that mean the world to a family with a sick child. So, if anyone reading this post is concerned about what to say, I offer this suggestion: Just be yourself and know that even a few key words carry tremendous meaning to Trevor's family. One other consideration:

We are all living through a very touch economy. To those of you who can support Trevor with a financial gift, here is the fund you've been asking me about:

Trevor Tredaway Fund
Citizens Federal Credit Union
P.O.Box 51070
Midland , TX 79710
No amount is too small either. Blessings come in all denominations. Now, if you are not in a position to help out financially, don't worry! There is also another wonderful opportunity to stop by and learn all about Trevor from his own Caringbridge website which is really very cool, and you can access it by just clicking HERE.

Doug Miles
Host,
"The Doug Miles Interview"

My sincere thanks to Doug Miles for reaching out to Trevor, and to Melinda for taking time out of her busy schedule to visit with us. We will be returning later this year to "The Doug Miles Interview" for an update. Finally, thank you to every person who stops by here. Your loyalty throughout the years means so much to me and I will continue to bring you news and updates on little Trevor.

We live in a different day and age where Social Media has really become "front and center" with the advent of Facebook and Twitter along with Blogger. I am always grateful to remain connected with each of you, and with that, I will see you back here soon!
Michael

It is awesome that you are using your gifts and talents to connect people to others. It is obvious that God has stretched you, so you feel comfortable at any medium -- online, radio, tv, etc.

Can't believe you were in Texas. Let us know if you take a visit down south!

Alisa: What a kind note! I spent most of my life in Texas and was there two weeks ago on a very short weekend visit.

Likewise let me know if you and your family ever visit the Phoenix area!
