Toledo with Elvis Costello!

Good Morning: I can't even remember how I came across Elvis Costello teaming up with composer Burt Bacharach for the CD "Painted from Memory". After all, this was 1998. I thought it was gutsy and still do. One artist leaping from rock music to interpret Burt Bacharach. The prevous post centered on Ohio, so I thought it would be fun to continue at least one more with "Toledo". People do actually ask "What do you do in Toledo?" Since I've only passed through it as a kid, I'm not exactly qualified as an expert. But as long as rock & roll acts stop there, it must have heart. Here are two legends at work. Enjoy!

Here are some of the great songs of Burt Bacharach. I'd be very surprised if you looked at this list and didn't identify at least one song you were familiar with. This man is an utterly amazing talent and considered one of the most acclaimed composers of the 20th Century. He was featured with Elvis Costello in a memorable cameo appearance in Mike Myers' film "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery". Today he tours worldwide. His songs have been interpreted by artists as diverse as Herb Alpert, Chrissie Hynde, Barenaked Ladies, Luther Vandross, David Sanborn, George Duke, All Saints, Wynonna, Ben Folds Five, Dionne Warwick Sheryl Crow and Cyndi Lauper.
